The Kibworth Methodist Pre-school is a rural early years setting based within the beautiful village of Kibworth in South Leicestershire. The pre-school is run from the large church hall and the adjoining school room and the location benefits from three accessible outdoor areas. All facilities are disabled-friendly and on the same level.
The pre-school is privately managed and our ethos is to provide play-based learning that delivers the EYFS in a happy, free, child-initiated environment. The pre-school is open each weekday 9am-1pm, Tuesdays and Thursdays until 3:30pm, term-time only. The setting also provides a lunch club from 12pm–1pm each weekday for those who wish to bring a packed lunch.
The pre-school employs 8 staff with most of the team having been recruited when the pre-school opened in 2005. The manager, Jayne Hubbard, has been at the setting for over 12 years.
Staff and relevant qualifications:
Jayne Hubbard, Manager, NVQ3 Early Years and Childcare, Level 2 qualification in speech and language (ELKLAN)
Cathy McGuire: Assistant Manager, NVQ3 Early Years and Childcare, SENCO (Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator).
Mandy Mills: Assistant Manager, NVQ3 Early Years and Childcare
Alice Buzzel: NVQ3 Early Years and Childcare
Sally Haycock: NVQ3 Early Years and Childcare
Rachael Hill: NVQ2 and currently working towards NVQ3 diploma in Children’s learning and development (Early Years Educator)
Emma Stankovich: currently working towards an NVQ2 Early Years and Childcare
Penny Frost & Rachel Battersby: experienced support staff.
Staff also regularly undertake further courses to aid their pre-school practice such as first aid, Makaton, I Can, safeguarding, documenting learning and more.
Collection of children is from the main Church door. This minimises disruption to the lunch club.
Parents are asked not to bring into Pre-School any child who has been vomiting, or has had diarrhoea,
until at least 48 hours has elapsed since the last attack.
This is to prevent the illness spreading to other children.
Please inform staff of any injuries that may have occurred in the previous 24hrs.
Show and Share
This is a red box located under the front desk that your child may put any toy or item from home that he/she wishes to share at circle time. This is a great way of building your child’s self-confidence. Please be aware that small items may go missing!
All items brought into pre-school (including clothing, hats, lunch boxes and show and share items) should be clearly marked with your child’s name.
Please remember to empty your child’s basket. The baskets contain everything your child has lovingly done for you that morning. If nothing is in the basket, just remember that what goes home in their heads is just as important.
We will try to play outside as and when the weather permits, so can you please ensure that your child has appropriate outdoor clothing when they attend pre-school and spare clothes in their bag. It is also a good idea to only send your child in clothing that you do not mind getting glue, water, mud and paint upon as we value the freedom and learning opportunities this creates while they are at pre-school.
Please be aware that we serve fruit every day as we have found it a great success. We also serve water or milk to drink with a biscuit.
Lunch club is not compulsory but offers a great opportunity for your child to learn to manage using a lunch box in preparation for school. It runs each day from 12 noon until 1pm and costs £5.00.
Please make sure your child’s lunch box is named.
Please be aware that we have children with nut allergies that have joined us this term. Lunch boxes must not contain any form of nuts and this includes peanut butter spread. Please notify us of any allergies if you have not done so already.
